  1. I really want to figure out how to do this without losing any quality from the trailer. Ultimately I want to stream it to my xbox 360 in highdef. If I could read the file in with wmv encoder this would do the job as well. The media center recongizes .ts, .wmv and .mpg types I think. I have searched google all last night and even these forums with no real answer on how to do this. Anybody have any idea about the exact hoops that need to be jumped through. Seems conversion from mov is very rare in tools which is a shame.

    Thanks a lot,
    Yacker

does the xbox 360 support h264/avc in some video container like mp4?

or wait for a xbmc for the xbox 360...

  3. Thanks for the responce, but I believe the hdmov file wont play with quicktime alternative trying to do that last night. I will check out that thread in more depth and give it shot though, looks like it might be promising. No, 360 doesnt support H.264. I cannot wait for it to run homebrew code. When XBMC comes to the 360 someday there will be many videophiles cheering from afar. Any more ideas are welcomed as well.

    Thanks,

they work fine here in mpc with quicktime alternative. I haven't tested directshowsource with avisynth though.

  5. so you downloaded an actual 720p hd mov file from apple and it displays fine? Great! I'll try to update my version when I get home tonight and give this method a whirl. Thanks for your help.

  7. So I got it working fine with quicktime alternative, however after installing avisynth and creating the script I tried to open the script via wmvencoder which gave me an error saying the file was corrupt. So I tried virtualdub and it opened fine but when converting to an .avi it would never pick up the audio. Anyone have any ideas if something needs to be added to the avisynth script to work for wmvencoder.

    Thanks

You need the AAC codec installed too, I think.

The best way to open qt trailers is to avoid quicktime altogether. So not via QTAlt if it is using qt's decoders and Cyberlink's wrapper dshow filter. Better to use a splitter such as Gabest's or Haali's,coreavc or ffdshow to decode the video and ffdshow or coreaac to decode the audio. Much faster decoding that way.

WMEncoder seems to have somewhat broken input. I was testing the 64bit version the other day and it wouldn't open an XviD avi properly, this despite the fact that it worked in graphedit64. So it wouldn't suprise me if AVISynth input didn't work properly. Shouldn't be needed anyway since it handles input via dshow anyway.

Nic's wmvencoder always worked ok with AVISynth input though.

And how would one do this.... I installed ffdshow, and Haaali.... but nothing opens on its own... looks like all are plug-ins for something...

They all plug into DirectShow... You just need a DirectShow Player... And AVISynth to feed it to respective encoders.

  12. I see. So MPC would work to decode only the audio from the MOV file?
