Have a VHS tape that is perhaps 15-20 years old.
When I play the tape in my "new" VCR, (under 2 years old),
the video is good, but sound breaks up every few seconds on intermittent basis.
Signal goes thru ADVC100 and thru computer then to monitor.
When I play tape on "old" VCR (15-20 years old), The picture is okay and the sound is good,
no breaking up. VCR connected straight to TV. Only have composite outs on the old VCR.
I tried diferent Audio settings on the "new" VCR..left channel only, right channel only, etc
and the sound did not change...still broke up now and then. The sound is bad enough that
you can't enjoy the tape.
When I play other old tapes on the "new" VCR, they play just fine. Just cleaned the head two
weeks ago.
So..should I throw out the "new" VCR or throw out the old tape.
Or maybe there is something else I can try..
