    Hi Everybody,

Hope I am in the right forum.

I am the coordinator of video evaluations of football games in the best danish leauge. We are using a video software for evaluating the games and therefore we need a file on the computer. We are also limited by that we need to distrube the games between the evaluating group.

We get the games on DV tapes and each game is around 2-3 hours. The DV-avi file is huge, and we would like if its possible to have a file that could be burned into a normal DVD. The quality is not that important, be still we wanna have decent quality.

So my questions, is this possible?
How to do it? What software do we need?

Hope anyone is able to help me!

Yes, it's possible. Simplest method would be a DVD recorder. Get one with incremental recording periods and you should be able to get pretty good quality. It is also faster than the PC method as will be essentially real time.

Otherwise, look at CCE basic, Procoder Express or tmpgenc as possible sofwtare encoder to do this for you.

There's a few options depending on what you need it to do.

    TV and computer playback?

https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=vso_DivXtoDVD Free and simple solution but with limited options. Quality isn't great but adequate. You certainly can't complian about the price.

    Computer only playback?

Open up Windows Movie Maker, which should be installed on your computer if you have a Windows machine. Drop the clip on the on the timeline, click the create video file button. This creates very small files, depending on the settings you pick you can reduce a 14 gig DV-AVI to about 1-2 gigs with almost the same quality. This is only good for playback on the computer though.
