Hey fellas new here and having some trouble wonder if someone could help me. I have about 25 xvid AVI's and want to put them on DVD's so a friend can watch them. I've tried using a few programs to do this, though after converting the AVI's to DVD the picture gets like "blotchy Squares" Is there any way to prevent this from happening? I get like 3-4 AVI's converted on a DVD. any help or links to guides is appreciated. thanks!

I've tried Xilisoft avi to dvd convertor, Win AVI. I have divx to dvd though was having trouble selecting multiple AVI' to convert to a DVD. I figured 3 AVI to one DVD would be ok, I know the quality will degrade a bit but will I always get blotchy squares when I try to convert?

Try DivXtoDVD / ConvertXtoDVD instead, it is the best all-in-one tool.

And 3 avis doesn't say much, how many minutes total?

Sorry...was trying to be sorta discreet didn't want to post something im not allowed to ya know? Anyway the AVI's are 45-47 min clips each AVI file is about 350mb. I do know in one program I used (can't remember which) If I use medium quality I can get 5 47 min AVI's on the DVD, but if I use high quality I can only get 2 on a dvd. SO if I can only get 2 clips on a DVD at 22 clips gonna take 11 dvds. Was trying to limit it to maybe 6 or 7 DVD's.

At 45-47 minutes per AVI then really 2 AVI files per DVD is about what you should expect.

That would be using Full D1 resolution (which is 720x480 for NTSC or 720x576 for PAL).

However you can probably still get very good quality using Half D1 resolution (which is 352x480 for NTSC or 352x576 for PAL).

The benefit to using Half D1 is that since the width is half the "normal" resolution you can use a lower bitrate yet still get a decent if not very good looking image.

Anways if you use Half D1 then you should be able to safely fit (at 45-47 minutes each) about 4 AVI files.

The only "trick" is that if you use Half D1 then you cannot make the final output 16x9 WS whereas if you use Full D1 then you can make the final output 16x9 WS ... assuming the AVI is widescreen.

Using convertx or winavi I cannot find any options where you can change if you use full resolution or half resolution. it just basic NTSC or PAL. I am assuming I would need a more advanced convertor to change those kinda settings?

None of the all-in-(w)onders do half-D1. If you want to do that, you need to get your hands dirty with virtualdub or avisynth, or at the very least a good standalone encoder.

That said, ConvertXtoDVD should be able to get you 3 45 minute episodes to a disc while maintaining close to the original quality.
