Hey guys,
Does anybody knows why an authored DVD is cropped when it's played on a TV?
Let me explain my case:
- I've encoded some AVI (XVid and DivX), 4:3 aspect ratio (604x455), with TMPGenc Plus;
- I've used the its "DVD - NTSC" template, for every project;
- the Display Video Aspect that I choosed was VGA (1:1), and 4:3 Display, at a second try;
- I've set the output Aspect Ratio to every option by every turn: "Full", "Full, keep aspect ratio", "Full, keep aspect ratio 2", and "No margin";
- the output format file that I choosed was "m2v+mp2";
- then, I mounted the DVD structure (menu, links, playlist) with DVD Tsunami;
- the source type was always "NTSC 4:3";
- since I mounted the final DVD file, I've created de DVD ISO with TDA;
- finally I've burned de ISO with DVD Decrypter;
Well, when I tried the resulting DVD on my TV, the image was cropped (almost 5% each side) - not only the contained videos, but the menu images and playlists.
My question is: where am I doing the wrong turn? I mean, when a try this DVD on my PC, with PowerDVD, everything looks right. I can even notice the difference of all those encoding types ("Full", "aspect ratio 1", and "aspect ratio 2"), with its side black stripes and so.
I know that there is a difference between the PC pixel (1.0 aspect ratio) and the TV pixel (0.9 aspect ratio). That is the reason that Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere has this correcting option, as a template. That's why the 720x480 PC AVI video is in reallity, the 640x480 in TV format. The point is that I thought these programs made all this automaticaly.
Am I right, or not?
Does anyone have a clue or a hint? Why is this happening?
In advance, thanks for any help.
