    Hi

Im trying to capture a NTSC video onto my pc. I have an Hauppauge WinTV capture card. My video is a JVC pal video, but has NTSC playback. When I capture I get a colour picture, but the bottom is a bit funny.

I have also have a Panasonic DMR ES10 dvd recorder. I have tried to transfer it to that, but experience similar problems. I understand a little the line difference between pal & ntsc. Can I use some software / device to convert.

The other other thing I have thought about is buying a NTSC video recorder from the states - not sure if that would work.... ?

Any help would be good - thanks !

    1. Does your JVC output native NTSC, PAL60, or actual PAL ? Can you select or adjsut these ?

    2. Define funny. If it is just the bottom couple of lines it is probably just tracking and edge noise and can be masked out.

    I got this sussed now.

I copied the NTSC vid's onto DVD using my HiFi DVD recorder. The picture was still funny at the bottom. I assume this is due to the number of lines between PAL / NTSC ?

Then I used some software called FairUse which rips the dvd into DIVX for XVID. It allows you to crop the video, so I just chopped the bottom bit off.

    Now looks pretty good !
