Converting from MPEG to AVI with XviD compression? *problem solved*

I've been looking for decent programs to convert from MPEG to AVI, which doesn't give large file size (XviD compression). MOST of the programs I've encounter have one big problem, the audio and video DID NOT MATCH!!! For example, the input video is 4 minutes 10 seconds, the output video will turned out to be like 4 minutes 13 seconds, and the audio didn't match the video, a very big problem when watching music video!

I want to know if there's any decent program which will let me convert from MPEG to AVI without getting that kind of problem.

Ps. I'm also looking for WMV to AVI, but it seems like I keep getting this same 'video-audio-did-not-match' problem. If you know any good program, please let me know.

Some of these expect VOB input, not raw mpeg.

You also Have SUPER and MediaCoder to cosider, as well as the old standbys Virtualdubmod and virtualdubmpeg2

Yes, I use avi.net & autogk. easy, simple and good quality.
For the control freak (who knows what he/she is doing), VirtualDubMod is all you need for mpg to AVI.

I also tried out MediaCoder, it's also another great program, I just used it to convert my MOV file into AVI file with perfect quality at about half its size!

Sorry to bother again, but I also have WMV files that need to be converted into AVI (my PMP didnt support WMV7&8 ) -- is there any program that will convert from WMV to AVI without giving unmatch video/audio problem? Something like avi.NET would be great (avi.NET only support MPEG)

or windows movie maker, it can export to avi like dv-avi.

or latest virtualdubmpeg2, it has some wmv support.

or use avisynth with directshowsource and then open the avisynth script in for example virtualdub.
