what is OPV ? something like multipass simulation ?

and how can I do this with CCE ?

    lol

    no

I think it is One Pass Vbr

    lol

I asked this to understand how to get the optimum q-factor for CCE OPV, now that I know what it is

In the Video Setting area, tick 1-Pass VBR. Then further down, in the Quantization Factor And Bitrate section, Q will be 60, min=2000, and max=9000. Adjust them as you like. That Q=60 is roughly equal to quant 7. If you use it, it will give you a graph with pretty much the same Q-Factor, but you lose complete control over filesize. There are programs available to help you choose a Q for a given size.

    thanks manono

As far as I understood Q-FACTOR is only a option within CCE

Lower than 60 it gives more quality

What I do is encoding with high Bitrates and with a Q-FACTOR of 40, and with a quantize matrix - I think given from you, remember ? a matrix riped from comercial DVDs ?

But If I use a Q-FACTOR lower than 40, my DVD doens't work

Where can I get programs you said ?

It is impossible to simulate multipass an then adjust OPV Encoding, isn't it ? just asking this to understand DIKO's OPV encoding, some people said that DIKO simulates 1 or 3 pass before OPV encode. I think this is impossible

    thanks again

Yes, the lower the number, the lower the average quant, the higher the quality. I don't use it all that often, except for doing DVD extras, but I've made a few using a Q-Factor as low as 20, and haven't had any problems with DVD playback. Perhaps there's something else going wrong. I don't really see how it could be OPV. I have seen cases myself with high bitrates (over 6000 maybe) where I also have a high max bitrate set, CCE doesn't honor it, and I get buffer underflows when authoring. But I don't know if that's the kind of thing you're talking about.

I don't know anything about DIKO. Sorry.

Where can I get programs you said ?
