Line down left hand side of preview screen

I am trying to capture from VHS-VCR to PC. I get a thickish single line down the far left of the capture preview screen.

- Tried either Dazzle DVC90 USB and also 1394 port using Sony camcorder as passthrough.
- When using 1394... the picture is fine on the camcorder then same problem at the PC
- Tried Pinnacle-studio Ulead and McFunsoft
- All updates and drivers OK on PC (2.4Ghz/512mb/120gb)
- Tried on a dual boot separate disk
- Swapped cables, VCRs
- Tried another PC in another room
- Example attached

It was working fine 3 weeks ago and it suddenly does this.

Any clues?

I'm thinking it's either the VHS tape, or the tracking. Have you tried other tapes to see if anything changes? Have you tried cleaning the heads/capstans to see if that helps... Tried adjusting the tracking.

I've tried 2 VCR machines (1 brand new) and loads of different tapes........
