So what's your early verdict for the next-next-next generation video game systems??? The Xbox 360 is the only one out on the street so far and seems to have a good head start.
Personally I'm holding out for the Wii (formerly the Nintendo Revolution). I love the idea of the "official emulator" and the backwards compatiblity of the gamecube. Even the joystick remote now seems intriguing. It's supposed to be able to be used like a sword or a fishing pole or any number of manipulatable objects.
I think the PS3 will have a built in audience but even at a lower than anticapted price I think $499 to $599 will be tough to swallow for many.

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Chalk me up as a Wii customer. I buy nintendo systems for the Mario and Zelda games.

these polls need to let you choose more than 1 option!
I say PS3 and Revolution.
I'll maintain the same "wait & see" attitude towards the 360 that I did with the XBOX (STILL haven't gotten an XBOX)"To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

Much as MS themselves suggested. I'm thinking a 360 and a Wii for the price of the single PS3. I love Sony but **** them and that price tag.

Didn't the NEOGEO launch at a price near the PS3?
I'm just saying... its to much money. I love sony but its priced out of my pocket. -
I thought the NeoGeo was more like $800 USD when it launched....
both the console and the games were INSANELY expensive."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

Nope, google tells me it was $650.
Of course to play nice the gap between that price and the rest of the consoles at the time was much larger. -
Yeah I think if the Wii can come in anywhere near $200 it will have a healthy life span.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I see myself getting one when the first sword or lightsaber fighting game comes out.

I'd like to change my vote. I just actually watched the Nintendo E3 press thing and damn, Nintendo ALL the way. Screw those other guys.

Tennis golf and baseball in a basic version will be on a single game. I know the new zelda game has some fishing in it.

Midtown madness was great! I also liked monster truck madness and motocross madness....I think I have to try them again....trials still available.

I intend to buy the PS3. I have to say it is a bit expensive but for the money i get a new high def player, a powerfull gaming console and its multimedia capabilities. If you look at the prices for any of the new high def players, they are all over 600 dollars. So i think i am getting a great deal. On a side note, like the guy said above, people are spending that for just one video card for the pc. Any game made for PS3 will always play on the PS3 and never need to upgrade to make it compatible or run at the best settings.

As for the next gen of systems ... I am interested mostly in the PS3 and Xbox 360 although I will wait until the price comes down a bit and the bugs worked out.
I only just bought a PS2 this past March 2006 so obviously I am in no big rush!
The only next gen game I am dying to try is RESIDENT EVIL 5 which as I understand it is only to be released on the PS3 but who knows ...
I do know that the PS2 version of RESIDENT EVIL 4 was perhaps the best and most fun I've had playing a video/computer game in a long, long time.

P.S.
I decided to vote for the PS3 because of the RE5 thing plus the fact that it will be a Blu-Ray player."The eyes are the first thing that you have to destroy ... because they have seen too many bad things" - Lucio Fulci
