So what's your early verdict for the next-next-next generation video game systems??? The Xbox 360 is the only one out on the street so far and seems to have a good head start.

Personally I'm holding out for the Wii (formerly the Nintendo Revolution). I love the idea of the "official emulator" and the backwards compatiblity of the gamecube. Even the joystick remote now seems intriguing. It's supposed to be able to be used like a sword or a fishing pole or any number of manipulatable objects.

I think the PS3 will have a built in audience but even at a lower than anticapted price I think $499 to $599 will be tough to swallow for many.

these polls need to let you choose more than 1 option!
    I say PS3 and Revolution.
I'll maintain the same "wait & see" attitude towards the 360 that I did with the XBOX (STILL haven't gotten an XBOX)

Much as MS themselves suggested. I'm thinking a 360 and a Wii for the price of the single PS3. I love Sony but **** them and that price tag.

I had one of those when I was about 12. Quite a bit of kit for its time.

As for the poll, not a gamer, so don't give a monkeys

Not that people aren't spending double that on video cards for their SLI desktops already

I thought the NeoGeo was more like $800 USD when it launched....
both the console and the games were INSANELY expensive.

Nope, google tells me it was $650.

Of course to play nice the gap between that price and the rest of the consoles at the time was much larger.

Yeah I think if the Wii can come in anywhere near $200 it will have a healthy life span.

Tennis golf and baseball in a basic version will be on a single game. I know the new zelda game has some fishing in it.

    I voted for "Other".

I'm not a gamer, but a few times a year I play Midtown Madness!
    Does anybody even remember that?
    I like the London version.

I intend to buy the PS3. I have to say it is a bit expensive but for the money i get a new high def player, a powerfull gaming console and its multimedia capabilities. If you look at the prices for any of the new high def players, they are all over 600 dollars. So i think i am getting a great deal. On a side note, like the guy said above, people are spending that for just one video card for the pc. Any game made for PS3 will always play on the PS3 and never need to upgrade to make it compatible or run at the best settings.

    LOL

Although I was only like 10 in 1982 I do remember seeing this in stores and some stores would even have it set up so that you could play it.

As for the next gen of systems ... I am interested mostly in the PS3 and Xbox 360 although I will wait until the price comes down a bit and the bugs worked out.

I only just bought a PS2 this past March 2006 so obviously I am in no big rush!

The only next gen game I am dying to try is RESIDENT EVIL 5 which as I understand it is only to be released on the PS3 but who knows ...

I do know that the PS2 version of RESIDENT EVIL 4 was perhaps the best and most fun I've had playing a video/computer game in a long, long time.

    - John "FulciLives" Coleman

    P.S.
I decided to vote for the PS3 because of the RE5 thing plus the fact that it will be a Blu-Ray player.
