    Hi everyone!

As i have some spare time at the moment im trying to learn how to code simple aplications.

I never coded before and im willing to give it a shot but i need opinions on wich programs to use.

For example i noticed that nero release a audio conversion command line tool and im would like to make a very simple gui a gui for it.

Ive searched the web and Autoit has been referenced as easy to learn.

Can anyone suggest a simple program and if possible "templates" so that i can start investigating how to do a Gui?

Im not trying to do a professional aplication just something for me to start off.
I love it when a plan comes together!

    Hi,

The simplest and easiest environment to code GUIs I believe is Visual Studio, but it is oriented to lazy people.

Keep in mind that, perhaps, you will have to learn to code in Visual Basic, .NET or C in order to control the inner workings of the applications you are going to make. When I was young, I used to code in QuickBasic and I can tell you, I hate it.

The easiest environment (language) to get started in IMO would be Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition. First you can't beat the price FREE. Second MS has insured that there are plenty of hand holding templates, starter kits, online learning videos and community web sties to get you started. This to me is one of Microsoft's better moves they've done over the years. They also offer other "Express Editions" (same price free) C#, C++ and J# (MS version of Java) but Visual Basic is probably the easer to get started in. Good luck.
