Recently one of my secondary harddrives has been mysteriously re-initializing itself, like the power flickered out for a second, you can hear it spin up, and for a few seconds you can't access the data on the drive.

I kept wondering what was causing it to behave this way, it was seeming happening at random times.

I just discovered that when I have my new Motorola Razr v3 phone next my computer and I have an incoming call it causes the HDD to reboot. It's really weird.
And it doesn't just happen with incoming calls, occasionally my cell phone contacts the tower (to keep tabs on me I guess) and that causes it to mess with the HDD.

I've been able to reproduce the oddity by calling my cell phone from my home phone, it causes the HDD to flicker every time.

I don't plan on keeping the phone next to the computer anymore, but I thought I would share my experience with the rest of you.

RF can do funny things: I had a headset mike that completely killed my wireless networking on a desktop - along with the USB link to my R300 printer. It would've been funny, except I re-installed Windows because of the problems: 3 times. No Joy for 3 re-installs, then, one night, I happened to unplug the offending headset; and everything started working again.

I certainly learned my lesson regarding RF on that one!

I had a computer case that was a RF receiver which made my floppy drive non-functional. Didn't know for months until I decided to use my SATA interface which required my floppy drive for drivers on a fresh install.
