I have a external Hard drive 250G that I use for my movie files. Would it be possible to take the drive out of it's enclosure and put it in my drive bay in my computer therefore making it an internal drive? I have the extra bay already in my computer. The HD in my computer is a Maxtor 80G and the external drive is a Western Digital 250G.
    Thanks, Michael

If you have an extra IDE channel to run it on, sure. Make sure you set the jumpers properly.

And this question would be better in the Computer forum. Moving you.

If possible, try keeping it on a seperate channel from your 80GB Maxtor.

Would it make any difference that the Brand names are different on the drives?

  5. No different. All hard drives follow the specifications lay down by Compaq known as IDE.

Unless it's a SCSI or SATA drive. The WD250G is IDE.
