    Hi.

I don't know whether I am posting this in the appropriate area. If not, I apologise, and a mod may please relocate it.

This question, I suppose, has been asked and answered by many with hunches, but I want it answered by someone who really knows:

What are the issues if I have both Roxio Media Creator 8 and Nero 7 Premium installed under Windows XP?

    or, more generically,

What are the issues if I have two different burning softwares installed under one windows operating system?

    Thanks and regards.

I've got the most recent Nero and Ashampoo Burning Studio running side-by-side in XP without a problem. I've heard of Roxio/Nero issues before, however --- though I can't verify them.

I have Roxio, Nero, Prassi Ones, DVD Shrink, DVDecrypter and Imgburn all installed with no issues. I aminly use the Roxio for burning CD's. The Nero for burning Data DVD's. The DVDshrink,DVDecrypter and Imgburn for Backups. And I use Ones for DVD Authoring of Home Movies. I have had no issues with conflicts between any of the software yet. Just my 2 cents. Are you having any issues with your current setup?

  4. Well you already do in a way .. windows inbuilt burning engine is provided by roxio so anyone running another burning software has two burning engines.. AFAIK the conflict comes in the ASPI layer
I think some softwares are purposefully designed to be non compatible, prime being the two suites you mention.

  5. The problem is the the packet writing software. Nero's INCD and Roxio's drag-to-disc, both of which allow you to just drag and drop files to the CD and basically treat it like another place on the HDD. These should not be installed together. Only install one type of this software or better yet don't install it at all. I've been running various burning apps for years with no conflicts and I never install any of these extras. I have no use for draging to disc.

Edit: I think that's accurate. It's been a few years since I got into the details of this so I could be mistaken to some degree.
