I want to change how i make my mpg2 files

I used to use Vegas to render as mpg2 but i notice that sometimes the video comes out very soft, i am gonna give tpmgenc a try, is it a good idea to try it?

If i use it, do i save my files as .avi and then convert?

If you use Vegas, get the Debugmode Frameserver so you can frameserve directly form the timeline, and not have to render to avi first.

ok let me try, thanks, i just did a avi to mpg2 with tmpgenc, not sure if i'm happy with the results, it seems like there are almost too many settings for me to play around with that it can get confusing

Might want to try Cinema Craft Encoder Basic also known as CCE Basic.

It is a MUCH faster encoder than TMPGEnc Plus
