The bigger question would be why are you making a DVD back-up copy using analog means?

In other words if you want to create a DVD back-up copy and you have a computer with a DVD burner ... well ... there is software made to do just that ... and it works much better than what you are doing. I mean you will get much better quality as the process on a computer is all digital.

There are many GUIDES in our GUIDES section on how to do a DVD back-up using your computer.

I know that already as I am doing that also just wanted the recorder for other reasons such as future DVCam backups. Plus i wanted to tape in MPEG Off the TV rather then VHS if you know what i mean.

Well of course what you said just now makes sense but in your original post of this thread you did specifically say you were using the device between a DVD player and a DVD recorder. Hence my comment.

Hmmmmmmmmm.......................Me thinks you make this too hard.

VHS to DVD recorder - connect VHS player directly to recorder
Camcorder to DVD recorder - connect directly to recorder
    DVD back-up - rip it/shrink it if necessary/burn it.

Need Sima CT-2 only to defeat encryption when going from DVD to DVD recorder or store-bought VHS to DVD-recorder. If you are trying to improve quality of your VHS tapes or home-made movies or TV capture, do a search on the site. Lots covering that topic and much better equipment needed than Sima can provide. Not familiar with other product.

Hey, the Sima CT-2 actually is useful in copying old vhs tapes to dvd even when they are not macrovision protected.

Helpful with some washed out colors, also helpful to keep black and white recordings in black and white.

Can the Sima be used to record HBO using recorders that pay attention to the anti-copy signal?

no VHS recorder here just DVD -> DVD+R but was using Sima CT2 and didn't like that black line rolling around in my recordings. But I was thinking the same thing and also if anything if hooked up right would decode the scrambled RF signal for HBO. I mean the scrambled signal when no cable box is hooked up.

    example:

    Cable--> [ VCR ] -->Sima CT2 -->TV
    or
Cable--> RF Converted box for rca inputs then -->Sima CT

Never experienced blue and yellow rolling lines. I wouldn't rush to blame any specific piece of equipment's design.

There seem to be three potential bad actors in your scenario, and no information pointing to any of them.

There is no reason to postulate either success or failure with DVcam transfers in the future.
