  1. Hi

I have a Mpeg video file, which has both audio & video, I would like to know how I can rip the video to an m2v file and the audio ac3 or mp2, so I can drop them into dvdlab to make a dvd? or perhaps dvdlab wil do this for me?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Batchdemux for mpeg2 sources and vob's .
    https://www.videohelp.com/~liquid217/dvdauthorgui.pl?p=download

    Tmpgenc for all mpeg1 source's .

    Vobedit for demuxing vob's .

    Mpeg1 will need to be re-encoded to mpeg2 .

If you want to have control over encoding :

    Bbmpeg - the best , accept's avi's dirrectly , virtualdub frameserved file's , and avs script's .
Many user definable setting's if required .
The use of virtualdub allow's for some filtering if required .

    Quenc - fast , accept's avs script's .
    Some setting's , limited .

    Hc - accept's d2v and avs script's .
Packed up front with advanced user setting's .

Hint : frameserving guide in guide section - read it

1: Open mpeg1 source in virtualdub
2: Set audio to full processing , set audio conversion to 48khz .
    3: Frameserve to bbmpeg , and re-encode to required setting's .

Bbmpeg will allow for the creation of all known mpeg2 type's as allowed by dvd .

Some authoring tool's , if not most , do restrict the format output availabilities :

Rejig (nstc source) will accept all known formats , encoded as mpeg2 .
Ifoedit (pal source) will accept all known formats , encoded as mpeg2 .

Trick : authoring none full d1 source with dvdauthorgui .

To author mpeg2 at 352x288 in dvdauthorgui .
First title must be recognized acceptable size as for chosen output type .
Ie , pal is 720x576 (use a demuxed logo , or create one from any other source , must have audio)
All other title's below the first can now be 352x288 source (pal) .

This also gose for nstc ...

Tool's that can generate video with null audio :

Slideshow movie maker (generate's avi - encode with bbmpeg)
    Dvdslideshowgui (output's mpeg)

    They might be handy .

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Addon : Other's worthy to having :

    Pgcedit - nav command editing
Dvdshrink - for trimming authored title's under 4.3 gig limit .
Besweet - for most common dvd audio conversion .
Belight - 5.1 ac3 audio creation (better from vob's , can be tricky at time's)
    The gimp - menu's , and dvd button's .
Rejig - also has the ability to retranscode video , shink .
Dvdauthorgui - one of the best dvd authoring tool's around .
dvd-decrypter - ripping and burning (look for imgburn)
Imgtool - easy to use dvd burning for newbies .
    Vobedit - for demuxing vob's
Suprip - for ripping subtitle's and menu button's
Visualsubsync - for creating you own personalized subtitle's
    Srt2sup - convert's srt sub's to ifoedit format .
Gui4ffmpeg - easily convert frame rate's (one of the best free tool's)
Aspect - one of the better utility tool's for figuring out the type of aspect to use
Vcdgear - ripping mpeg from vcd dat's
    Mp4cam2avi - nero's mp4 to avi
Vob blanker - never know when .
Virtualdub / mod - best all rounder , filtering , framserving to both bbmpeg and wax
Wax - go check it out
Super - for mov conversion , can also fix problematic avi's .
Mediacoder - for encoding to new portable type player's .

Artisanplayer - video player (finding a download can take some time)
Koolplaya - Good , can play dvd's from drive or folder (install freedvdcodec and ac3filter's)

Blender - for those who want there own animation's for menu's , ect .

A couple I spotted about the place :

    free-rm-mp3-converter - can rip audio from rm , rmvb video's .
Rm avs script found on site : https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=289872
    MP3Trix_FREE - Has a sweet bunch of filter's , stretch , fade-in , fade-out , more

    ----------------------------------------------------

That should just about cover everything ... there is more ... for another time .

By default, dvd-lab should ask you to demux the MPEG as soon as you add it to the assets window AFAIK.
    If in doubt, Google it.
