Doom9 IMO is for pirating DVD, does not have a lot about video editing or capturing. It is a good site.

MY only question is WAY come back? 4 different accounts, Doom9 is better, people on this forum are kids from high school, and you are sitting there posting threads to TRY to get people to help a dumbass money like yourself? WAY? This forum can do without losers like yourself, but after 4 accounts can you do without this forum??? I don’t think so.

So you have proved my point, which is you are an *******. And you need to try working on a lawnmower, driving a garbage truck, cleaning toilets, something else that more fit you. BIG LOSER! Hahaha

This is my last posting on you; I have a real job I have to get back to.

My Avermedia card works with xp directshow capture apps because the company provides wdm drivers for my card (the btwincap (wdm) drivers also work with this card.)

The ATI and Pine tv cards came with vfw drivers only and the manufacturer does not supply wdm drivers for these so I couldn't use them with XP. I tried the btwincap and they worked with one flaw. The picture was too dark and I had to manually set the contrast and brightness. It was also different depending on source ie. tuner, composite or svideo. I couldn't trust it to retain my settings depending on which capture program I used. It wasn't always what you see is what you get. When I brought up the brightness the picture sometimes looked washed out on tv even though it looked ok in my preview window.

I would prefer to use my Pine card but I went back to my older Avermedia card because of these issues and used the company supllied wdm drivers even though the Avermedia card has a problem of a hiss in the tuner audio but that's another story unrelated to this topic.

My point is that the issues you describe are not caused by your card itself but by the btwincap drivers. This problem was discussed here a long time ago.

Buy a basic BT878 (mono) or bt879 (stereo) based card if you don't want to spend too much but just make sure that it comes with wdm drivers supplied by the manufacturer of the card. Although I have an audio hiss in the tuner of my old Avermedia I would still recommend them because even many years later I can still go to their site and download discontinued drivers and software.
Awesome post. I never even thought about the fake driver causing the dark color issue. I didn't use the 3DFX card until 2 years after I upgraded to XP. I just assumed that my 3DFX card was dying and the signal had become weak.

Yeah when you up the brightness, it all just looks washed out, and the missing bottom 30% of the color that was a solid black, just becomes a solid grey.

I had that audio hiss on the Leadtek card also. I hated that, so I once again suck with my 3DFX.

So funny. Right when I talk about no one making any helpful posts, one comes right along. I should start flaming everyone right from the start. Seems to work faster.

But thanks. That's one mystery solved.

id have to agree that the card is useless only due to shitty software support.

the box says its 2k compat yet the packaged software only works with xp...

tried about 18 different capture programs, none of which really work well or as desired.

only one i havent tried is winamp which i will do.

spent close to $300 trying to get this tv card going.

Winamp is the only one that can even come close to mimicking dscaler's slim, fast, fully featured design. Unfortunately it does everything wrong, but thats not the Winamp plugin's fault. It's the drivers for the card.

??? Maybe if you take your elementary head out of your ass. Maybe just maybe you can see that I’m on the west coast (meaning 2 am for me)? When I am home???? Just maybe? Could that be possible that I am out of the country, say like Ireland(meaning 10 am for me)? HUH, out of the country, you may ask yourself??? Maybe it is because of his job??? The kind of job your bullshit ******* would “like” to dream about. But you know, your dumbass couldn’t even wear the shoes.

You are right, on the other hand. I am a kid, replying to your bullshit. But this 25 yo kid, makes more, does more, gets more, loves more, then you EVER HAVE bitch!!!! Go to sleep with that shit, *******.

Living with your mom, does not mean you are living life. Maybe if you get away from her, you would stop being such an asswipe.

There are MANY pros in here.

You think thats good, but I am used to much better. Dscaler destroys all other TV aps in terms of image quality.
Well, that shows you don't know how to set it up. by the way, the deinterlacing options are what you video card offers, so it's not the theatrix or winamp's fault.

All you could do was taunt, and say "it works fine".
I had no time to tell you any settings; you started complaining about everything. Did you even ask? NO.
I'll tell you one setting that will help that '320x240 during an earthquake'. Open the plugin settings and click on the little box that says: "swap fileds' temporal order".
More proof that you didn't even try to set it up (or perhaps you didn't know how to).
And I use graphedit or this plugin to capture to huffyuv. Most likely you don't even know there's a recording tab under the options...

I was just trying to help someone who tried to do something I knew how to do, but I think I was wrong to even post in this thread...

Lol, it doesn't even work in MCE, which it was designed for. Media Center says no tuner found. Hilarious.

I already tried all that. None of it improves the situation. Deinterlacing is still terrible using swapped fields, and winamp instantly crashes as soon as you enable recording mode from the options. You're still full of shit.

Perhaps if you go to Doom9 you'll get an answer...
Now that you tried MCE and say it doesn't work with that, I'm sure you don't know a shit about computers. Go to hexus.net forums... many people using the card without problems.

I give up. If it doesn't work for you, fine. Return the card and keep using you old 3DFX card.

Hi, have you been reading the crap this guy puts up? He's a big loser. I have already suggested for him to give away his computer to someone that can use it like a 5 yo or old lady.

    I'll pile on...

I haven't had one issue with my ATI cards that I didn't cause myself, period. I can capture anything I want with it including PS2 and Dreamcast without issue and excellent playback.

There alot of helpful people on these boards and you would be doing yourself a favor by listening to what's being said. As far as the net having to do with real life, you trying to tell me my G/F I met online I would have found after spending years and years behind the turnables, in bars, nightclubs, chruch or dozens of supposely good places to meet people tha are single?

Here's where it links with real life. In person you're prolly a know it all a-hole anyway and would try too tell me shh I already know or take a quote from some other nerd and call that gospel.

If you knew everything why post here, obviously you know the answer already you would have saved the boards alot of grief.

Another forum adventure where everyone blurts out false information to up their post count and internet ego, while I had to go and fix the situation myself. The usual.

Here's the info for anyone being directed to this thread, or any existing member who isn't a snobby little nerd:

Card is worthless on XP. Card is usable on MCE, but it won't get detected in MCE until you run this:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/peterrosser/archive/2005/10/20/482974.aspx

And you might need the faultrep.dll file. Google for it. After this, MCE will recognise it finally. You will still need an MPEG2 decoder plugin most likely. I find that nvidia's PureVideo tool works great.

The card is still pathetic for any source which needs to be truely live, with no lag, like a game console. Every single app you use, no matter what settings you try, will always perform poorly under "LIVE" mode, meaning bypassing the MPEG2 encoder. Hope this helps the people who deserve it.

  15. Mozgus: When I had MCE and didn't have to install anything to make it work. Many people can confirm that if the card doesn't encode to MPEG-2, there's no delay (on video. There has always been a delay with audio).
Go and ask someone at Hexus.net forums... many MCE users there.

It's not the card's fault that you can't configure a program as you should.
If the card doesn't work for you, send it back to the retailer and keep using your old card... simple as that.

Yes, you didn't ask for help, that's why you didn't get any help from us.
Complaining and insulting the person that helped you isn't the way to ask for help. And you never fixed the situation, you just gave up.

Why do you keep posting, kid? You don't know shit. Every answer from you have been "Rofl! You too stoopid to config teh card! haw haw! Not card's fault!" I have much more video experience on my resume then you can ******* dream. People like you settle for less, while people like me expect only the best. Once you accept that, you'll realize that we are operating on the same page here, and that this argument ammounts to nothing.

Jesus, you're like that kid down the street we all know. He calls us up and says we should come over and check out the newest game on his PC. We say his PC won't run it. He insists it does. We show up at his house and see the game running at 5 fps. You have low standards. If that makes you happy, then congrats. Don't expect everyone else to find happiness in that methodology.

Now go cry in someone else's thread, and let this one die.

  17. Then could you please explain to me why I can play without delay and without problems and you can't, using exactly the same card???
I'm just trying to help you. I know the card has problems with many programs, but that tv plug-in does work, and I just wanted to share some information with you. If you don't like it... well; I don't care. It's your card and your money.

By the way, if you know so much about video, you could have recognised all the pros in here and wouldn't have said that this forum was just full of little kids.
SORRY for trying to help you; I won't do it again.

Wrong. You're clearly the sort who likes to settle for less. Everyone knows that Doom9 is the best place to go for this kind of information (see: Mozgus 2006, My Way or the Highway, VideoHelp.com, May 16.) Yet here you are, constantly returning to us lowly second-raters. Why? Is it because you are very bored with life, or is it because you are easily amused? Perhaps the truth is that you're just like us VH folk, settling for less in life. In that case, welcome!

I'm not terribly pleased with the software support for the 550 under MCE, but it has worked for me. I use it more for the high quality composite analog video input however, the comb filter really is spectacular IMO, so in retrospect it makes a pretty good card for lossless 720x480/576 capture.
