You did? I'm amazed so many DO code. 38%! Ask the same question about carpenting, or car repair, or sewing

  2. Yes - business/work. Mostly VB, vbscripts, SQL Stored Procedures and DTS stuff - at least these days anyway. I'd be showing my age admitting having worked with RPG, COBOL, Assembler and Pascal. Maybe that was a past life.

  4. According to the posts here, many (most?) are coding in VB or similar basic type languages.
Would be interesting for a follow up poll

    Business/work: SQL, VBA
Private: VB, HTML, XML, Batch Files

    ... or spelling!

    j/k

I thought that since there are so many websites and forums that code/program writing
    would be extremely popular.

I also assumed that schools would be teaching code to keep up with technology, etc.

When I was in school we had one Commodore computer for the entire school, and
that school was on the cutting edge!

Times sure have changed since the caveman days!

But look at the poll results. Look at the 5th choice!

Somebody else will have to follow up!

    j/k :P

After reading the posts there are a lot of people who write in a lot of
different languages. I think one would be enough for me, and that
would be Basic! Wouldn't make a living with it, I don't think!

I still have a Radio Shack Color computer 1, expanded to 64KB RAM.

Sometimes I still write some basic programs just for the hell of it

My other Tandy (Radio Shack) Color Computer III, was expanded to 512KB and it runs OS-9 Level 2. I still do Pascal programs in it.

I also code in Pascal in my old palm.

I do some Cobol at work, but lately I just write Scripts in Open VMS DCL scripts.

For fun I Keep using Pascal and some assembly for plain DOS.
