  1. I have an AVI that still has copy protection in it from a DVD. How do I remove the copy protection?

The video essentially plays all pixelated but plays fine in VLC.

Sound like a directshow video codec problem.

identify the avi with avi2clipboard, what is the video codec?
Have you installed any huge codec packs?

  3. ok... i installed autogk and as a result xvid codec was also installed.

    The video plays fine now.

I was mistaken in thinking xvid was already installed and misinformed about the copy protection.

    thanks for the help.
