I am trying to use PS 10.5 to get DV off Panasonic camcorder and can't get the final step to recognize my dvd recorder. Anyone have an idea what I can do?

I assume you mean a DVD RW drive and not and external standalone dvd recorder.

This program can suck big ones and doesn't even run that well on my P4 2.8 / 1 gig ram machine at work. Everything else works fine even Avid.

I prefer the older versions of studio that don't suck the life out of your system resources. IMHO it does and excellent job at editing and applying effects and trasitions with Hollywood effects, creating music with smartsounds and e few other things but authoring is NOT one of them.

I will edit a simple project on it only to take advantage of the other features I mentioned and quickly render to MPG2 and author elsewhere.

It doesn't surprise me at all to hear that it will not see your DVD drive
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

Sorry, yes I meant DVDRW. Should this be in DVD Authoring? Sorry if it should.

I use Pinnacle Studio Plus - Version 10.5.2.2826.

I haven't ever had the exact problem that you mention, but I've had problems with failed burns before. I couldn't pinpoint the reason for the failed burns, but as a workaround, I did the following:

    1. Captured to DV-AVI using WinDV.

    2. Opened the files in Pinnacle Studio.

    3. Edited as needed. Added Menus, Chapters, Music, Sound Effects, etc...

    4. Saved as Project (Save often).

    5. In the "MAKE MOVIE" Section

    5A. Click "SETTINGS"
5B. Click "CREATE DISC CONTENT BUT DON'T BURN"
5C. Click "IMAGE TYPE" - Then "ISO FILE"
5D. Video Quality "AUTOMATIC QUALITY" - This Should Suffice
    5E. Click "OK"

    6. Click "CREATE IMAGE"

You will be prompted for the location to save the .ISO file that will be created.

In the next step, I've had good luck two different ways:

7A. Using SONIC DIGITAL MEDIA PLUS V7

    7A1 - Select "COPY"
    7A2 - Select "BURN IMAGE"
7A3 - Select the .ISO FILE that you saved in step 6.

    or

    7B. Using PINNACLE STUDIO PLUS

7B1 - Click MAKE MOVIE Tab
    7B2 - Click "SETTINGS"
7B3 - Click "BURN FROM PREVIOUSLY CREATED DISC CONTENT"
    7B4 - Click "OK"
    7B5 - Click "CREATE DISC"
7B6 - Select the .ISO FILE that you saved in step 6.

I haven't had any burning issues since the last release, so maybe you should check to make sure you have the latest version first.
