  1. I made a copy (CD to CD copy) of a VCD I bought on a CD-R disc. But I wasn't able to play it on the standalone home DVD/VCD player--it said "disc format not supported" when I put it in. The copy could only play on my computer.

Besides getting a DVD/VCD player that has CD-R support, how can I copy a VCD and have it play on a standalone DVD/VCD player, just like the original does?
    Please reply.

  2. if the hardware can't read/play it, it can't be done, that simple. changing firmware/hardware is the only way but too much trouble, better off getting a new DVD player.

Yes, Condone is right, you should get a DVD player that not only will read CDR/CDRW, but make sure it can read VCD & SVCD format. Check the compatiblity list.

I would prefer downloading CloneCD to make (CD to CD) copies. It does a better job of copying VCD's & Music CD's.

  4. If you are having a problem with CD-R media on your player, you can often still get some brands to work. However, you may have to experiment with different brands to find one that does. CD-RW often works better in these cases.
