What are you find deficient with Premiere Pro or Vegas ?

If you want to look higher that those two then are are starting to head into Avid territory, which may also involve hardware purchases as well.

There is nothing deficient with Premiere Pro or Vegas, I'm just nitpicky. I've used Avid Free DV and to my suprise it had some of the features I'm looking for. What Avid products would you suggest? Is there any way I can migrate the plugins and filters I use in Premiere to Avid? And by "hardware" do you mean in the lines of a dedicated card or a whole new workstation? Im looking into editing HD content.

The full Avid products can be very picky about what hardware they will run on, and what software you can have installed along side. In many cases a dedicated workstation, built to spec, is something you have to budget for.
