Ok, I could use a little help understanding some of the bitsetting results I am getting.
When I burn with DVDDECRYPTER, the resulting disk type and BookType are both DVD-ROM
When I burn with RecordNow, the DiskType is still DVD+R, but the BookType is DVD-ROM.
is this a problem? and are the disks getting created in a way which standalone players will read them as DVD-ROM?
here's what I'm using
BookType LIteON Bitsetting Utility 1.3.5
RecordNow 7.3
DvdDecryptor 3.4
Lite-On SOHW-1673S firmware revJS0C
RITEK DL+R
when I backup with dvd decryptor, here's what I do
1) rip in iso read mode
2) open booktype utility and set type to dvd-rom
3) write with iso write mode
when I backup with RecordNow, here's what I do
1) rip in dvddecrypter with file mode
2) open booktype utility and set type to dvd-rom
3) write with recordnow
so... what's the verdict. Does it matter that the disc type is different in the end if the booktype is correct?
cheers!

Why use the LITEON UTILITY for BITSETTING? In DVD DECRYPTER just go to TOOLS>DRIVE>CHANGE BOOKTYPE>click on the LITEON tab then it'll burn to DVD-ROM setting.
It wouldn't matter if the disc is read as a DVD+R but booktyped to DVD-ROM. As long as it's burned in the DVD-ROM mode it should be read fine in most dvd players. Although some older Panasonic models even with booktyped to DVD-ROM can not play them. Discs burnt to DVD-ROM should playback in most dvd players.
