  1. I have been looking at what deinterlacing is and the various methods.

In my dvd creation tool (avi2dvd) i have the option to deinterlace. I mainly convert my home movies to dvd.

In what situation would i need to deinterlace? Is it worth doing it on home videos captured from a digital video camera using windv?

    Hi bohboh,

TV's display interlaced video. Other displays, such as PC monitors, display de-interlaced (or progressive) images.

You use interlaced or de-interlaced depending on where you're going to watch the end product.

If it's both, DVD players on PC are designed to de-interlaced interlaced material - so go for interlaced.
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

  3. So basically, i will always watch them on a dvd player, not a PC which means i should never deinterlace.

I noticed that in my dvd playing software (VLC) it has the option to deinterlace with the various methods. Would this be useful and improve the quality of the movie if for whatever reason wanted to watch one of my dvd's on the PC?
