problem converting AVI File

Hi,

I am having converting a avi file using TMPGENc. The moment i specify this file the system hangs, so what i did was tried to open the file using Virtual Dub...then i get a error saying that this is an ASF file & Micrsoft have banned this thing & all that shit....

I want to convert this file ( ASF format ) so please tell me what has to be done.

OK, there is a version of VirtualDub that handles ASF (v1.3c) - It can be found here on this website under "tools"
There is also a v1.4c Hack to be found at http://www.doom9.net

Now, ASF can appear as one of the MPEG4 codecs or as the WM8 codec (wmv1, wmv2). If it's the later, then you may have to convert it before you can use it.
