There is alot of video hosting sevices springing up and I would like to find one that has better quality than YouTube and will still permit embeding on my site.

Maybe even pay hosting for video only services if you know of any.

There are none. The best way to host your own videos is to buy hosting.

I've noticed youtube has taken my wmv and not only re-encoded it, but has made it much larger than the 320x240 I uploaded. Perhaps if you make your video the same size as they display them, the quality will improve. The embed tag says 425 x 350 so try that.

I found a better one. Try Veoh http://www.veoh.com/mostRecent.html?type=v&order=mr&numResults=20&title=Most+Recent

They also convert your video to a small Flash file but I downloaded the same video to both YouTube and Veoh and the Veoh one is cleaner. Also Veoh stores your original upload at the size and quality your uploaded, and users can download that higher quality video to view. The Flash video on Veoh is called a Preview, than if they like the video they can download the original.

If you find any better please post them here.

the best video hosting service by far is...

    www.ourmedia.org

they give you a direct link to your exact file: ie www.ourmedia.org/124231515151515/yourvideo.wmv

this way, people can download your file directly, and you can put on your own site. They DO NOT convert your file, it uploads exactly how you want it.

I made a group at ourmedia.org about 8 months ago. Seems very quiet there.

Youtube recommends a 320x240 mp4. I tried this and it sucked because it's still resizing.

Just for kicks, I uploaded a short 720x480 10mb .wmv to youtube and allowed it to resize by itself. It came out much much clearer.

I tried that also but found Veoh to be clearer and they store your original video on their site for others to download in original format and size. That is a good deal.

Just in case your interested in what I am trying to do my videos are at me site on the Video page www.rcwarbirds.com

  8. Without a doubt it's DropShots.com

I can switch out the 10 videos they allow me
in 1/2 the time it takes to download just 1 on
YouTube and some of the rest. I like to
switch out my video on a daily basis. With
the others it would be impossible. Youtube
will not allow anything greater than 100Mb file.

Some of the others don't either but will
the transfer the first 100Mb of it. YouTube
could take a hint from that.

I like the format display at DropShots
way better. Check it out you'll see for
    yourself.

DropShots.com say they are 100 times
faster than the rest and I believe them.
