    hi all, im looking for some free data recovery software to recover files lost during a format. Is there any good software out there?

    Drive rescue is what you need , even if you formatted the drive it should still beable to locate them .

    However , take a close look at what it say's about file's it has discovered ... if they are jibberish by name , there stuffed ... if green , they are 100% good for recovery ... anything between these two , might work , but it's not guaranteed ... 40% of the time it succeed's .
