  1. Hi,

I used DVD Shrink to extract the main movie leaving out extra material and menu. Then I used the TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6.26.73 to create menu and now I was ready to being output but TMPGEnc DVD Author displayed a message saying that the new DVD compilation is
    video - 9800kbps
    audio - 448kbps
    combined – 10248kbps
and it should be no more than 9848kbps in total.

This dvd has nothing but extracted video and new menu. I am offered the choice to ignore this message and carry on with the warning or Cancel the output by TMPGEnc DVD Author. The program doesn’t adjust the bit rate on it’s own. When I extracted the movie using DVD Shrink I didn’t manipulate original bit rate in any way. I didn’t manipulate the bit rate in TMPGEnc DVD Author neither this program ask the user about bit rate. The original disc from which I extracted the video works fine in my Panasonic DVD player.

Should I just ignore this warning or should I use TMPGEnc 3.0 Express to re-encode the video? Any idea what should I do?

    Thanks in advance.

    Joe

Yes you can ignore it. Technically its out of dvd spec but with this most dvd players seem to be able to handle this little "fudging" of the specs.

But to be on the safe side you could use a rewritable disc in case it doesn't work. The only other thing you could do is reshrink to a lower compression setting.

Sometimes the header of the video file will say that the video file is at the MAX bitrate ... this header is what TMPGEnc DVD Author reads ... so even if the bitrate is much lower ... if the header says it is maxed out ... which for some reason is a common header setting ... then you get the error message.

If you know for sure the bitrate is less (which in this case it MUST be since you used DVDShrink) then just ignore it.

In other words that ERROR MESSAGE is more often than not incorrect.
