I use a Panasonic DVD Recorder with the source DirecTV HD receivers (a Samsung T360 or HD TiVo)

Unfortunately, as many know there are often lip synch (audio/video delays) in many HD broadcasts. If I make a DVD, how can I use my computer to adjust this delay?

I have tried using VOBEdit, but it reports no lip synch issues, which makes sense since the recorder is producing a new DVD. Are there any other tools available to do this?

I briefly tried VirtualDubMon, and it has the exact feature I want where you set the delay in milliseconds either + or - to resynch a/v. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to use it as it seems only to produce AVI files. I want to end up with the usual IFO, VOB, and BUP files for a DVD.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Demux video stream and audio stream from vobs using vobedit .

Use Ifoedit to create new dvd (author) , add m2v

I would consider encoding the audio to ac3 for this using besweet .

    Now add ac3 audio .

Here , you click on your audio stream to highlight it , then add required delay , you can also use - amount's as well .

If not spot on , redo again , and it should then be fine .

Thanks, Bjs. This is exactly what I wanted. I saw the box for the audio delay listed in the dialog box, but I couldn't figure out how to put a value in. I didn't realize I had to click on the audio stream.

I will try it in the next few days and see what happens.

One other quick question. Can you put in a negative number if the audio is after the video?

    TIA.

I see from Bjs's response above that you should be able to put a negative number in for the audio delay. I have several things I've recorded with my DVD recorder that the audio is already behind the lips. I tried putting a negative number in for the audio delay, but I get an error message (in German, so I don't understand it). Is there a way to get the audio "negatively" delayed?

    TIA
