I demuxed a mpeg-2 file in order to apply 3:2 pulldown to the m2v stream. Instead of demuxing the mpg into a video stream and an audio stream, ffmpegX created 16 m2v files and 16 mp1 files. WTF? I should've ended up with a single m2v files and a single AC3 file.

I then tried MPEG StreamClip and it correctly demuxed the mpg-2 file.

    What's going on here?

Okay, then I'll assume that ffmpegX's demux function is not working correctly. I'll use MPEG Streamclip for demuxing from now on.

  3. The documentation says: "This tool allows to demux mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 files into elementary .mpv and .mpa streams, or to demux VOB files into .m2v and .ac3 streams."

Consequently, if the mpeg-2 file has a .mpv=m2v/m1v and .ac3 stream (instead of .mpa=m2a/mp2), it will not work. The tool used is mpgtx and it has such a limitation. However, it is planned to improve the demux tool so as it can also handle ac3.
