  1. guys,

i have now for several days a problem with my encoded mpg2 files. whenever i try to encode the avi/xvid to a 720x480 ntsc mpg file i get these unsych files at the end. At the begining they look normal, but the longer the video is running the more unsych the video-sound gets. I never had something like this before... i used mainconcept mpg encoder, tmpg, CCE and with all the same result. I also tried different files, but all fucked up at the end. It simply doesn't make a sense- well... what does?

anyway, would be very glad if somebody has an idea

    thx

    Please watch the language.

What is the source ? (Video codec, resolution, framerate, Audio codec - g-spot or avicodec can tell you this)

What process are you using - directly loading the avi, frameserving frm avisynth or virtualdub etc ?

What guide, if any, are you following ?

At a guess, I would asy VBR mp3 audio is the cause, but you need to confirm this.

  3. here you go:

xvid, 640x272, 23,976FPS, AC3 (4 codecs installed: ACM, cyberlink, mainconcept, nero digital), 2 video codecs installed (xvid-mpg4 codec/decoder)

i don't follow any guide. I am used to set all settings as i need them:

    ntsc 720x480, 29FPS, wide, 48.000khz... etc.

    thx

Don't encode to 29 fps. If your source is 23.976 fps, encode at 23.976 fps with 2:3 pulldown. This will maintain the running time and probably preserve audio sync.

If it is just standard AC3 then it should be solid.

Demux the audio track using virtualdubmod. Run it through AC3 fix to check it.

    Encode your video seperately.

Bring the two together when you author. If you are still drifting out over time, rather than simply being out the whole length, then there is something else at play. If it is out the whole length, then you just have to adjust the delay to compensate.
