  1. I converted a MKV file to AVI using MenCode, but the subtitle was not in the final AVI file. I then tried to convert the same MKV file to AVI by using VirtualDubMod, and the output AVI file also lacks subtitles. I am not sure exactly what steps I should take to include subtitles in the final AVI file, i.e. which compression mode and the different options.

  2. I am looking for solution for this problem too.
I tried WINAVI 7.5, its does not work for MKV subtitles.

I only tried successfully with GraphEdit, but the AVI Renderer I used does not support Xvid.
GraphEdit too tedious to work on, since i can only configured it to handle one file at a time.

The other solution i tried is to extract the subtitle out using VirtualDubMod, then I use WinAVI to encode the AVIs + individual subs in batch task.

Still looking for a one-app-does-all approach.

  3. I used Subrip to get the subtitles from mkv files.
