Hello All
I'm new here so please feel free to slate me if I should have posted this somewhere else. Basically what I want to know is the simplest, fastest method of taking clips from rugby games which I have personally recorded, back into windows movie maker to do a compilation of the best bits.
I recorded the game on a dv camcorder and made dvds of each game using roxio easy cd and dvd creator 6. In hindsight I should have captured the best bits when I was putting the original file onto my computer. I know want to go back and pick out the best bits, i.e. tries, best tackles etc and make a new movie in windows movie maker using clips from 10 games I have on dvd.
Can anyone recommend the easiest (and hopefully cheapest) way of doing this?
Thanks in advance
Scott

I don't know about WMM as a tool for this.
You could extract the MPEGs with VOB2MPG and use a editor like the freeware Cuttermaran to get your clips out. Or if WMM can handle them, use it.
Then you would need to author them back to a DVD. There is DVDAuthorgui for freeware authoring. Or you might be able to drop the edited MPEGs into the freeware DivxToDVD and process them to DVD that way.
And welcome to our forums. -
That was from a DVD file on my hard drive. It will take longer to read it from a DVD drive and convert the VOBs fo MPEG, but it's fairly quick, about the same as ripping a DVD.

I suggest using VirtualDubMod or VirtualDubMPEG to recode (or even to edit: explore VirtualDub and you'll be amazed!!!). -

A forum search will show that MPEG-2 support seems to be hit or miss in WMM - I certainly have never had any luck but many others here have not had any problems whatsoever.
VOB2MPG and then try to import the MPEG. If this is not accepted, then open the VOB in virtualdub-MPEG2, get a hold of the Panasonic DV Codec and convert to DV (about 13GB per hour, mind you). This AVI will then open in WMM.
As mentioned, you'll need to output as DV-AVI from WMM, and then use an encoder to convert to MPEG-2 if DVD is your goal.If in doubt, Google it. -
