I'm trying to conver two video files, one is .ram and the other .rm, to .avi. I know that virtualdub doesn't support these files, so I used avi synth to create an .avs file that can be openned in virtualdub. This has worked in the past for the files I've tried it on, such as .rmvb. However, when I try creating a .avs for the .ram and the .rm, it doesn't open in virtualdub. Anyone ideas on what to do?

RealVideo is pretty much a proprietary format. Converting it to a AVI or another type format can be a problem because of licensing. You might try SUPER as it can handle quite a few different formats. You can go to the RealVideo site for more info, but they may not be much help for conversions to other formats.

RM should work, but RAM is just a metefile pointer to the actual file URL.

It also depends on the actual RealVideo codec used in the clip. Try MediaInfo or one of the other ID programs to see if it can spot the codec being used.

Is there any status bar in Super? I'm trying to convert my .ram to .avi right now, but I have no idea how long it will take as the only status bar I see keeps repeating. Also on a tangent, should I use mencoder or ffmpeg?
