Anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

That screen only flashes(and beeps) this screen for a second or two...then the computer starts up as normal. Everything on the computer works perfectly...just this new "twist".

Not really too worried about it...it's been like this for two weeks or more...just curious. The computer is old and has(and still does) serve me faithfully.

    Hi,
Generally beeps before windows starts is that there a indication that there was a hardware that the cmos post test had a issue with .... the exact meaning of the beeps, long and shorts, (there a beep code list) ... will depend on the who made your bios!! .... so find that out and then go to the manufature website and search for those beeps codes... and see what it says...

question does your cd rom work ok???

now from what i can see from your shot.... difficult to see, there appears to be a error with your cd!! but not sure since that part of the screen I couldn't read clearly! .... but if that correct.. then something with your cd drive.. it could be as simple as a poor or dirty connection... !! so that would be the first thing i do is reconnect things... that process cleans the connector and insures a good connection.... especially on old machines...
NOTE... I used to have a old 286.. where i would get a HD track ) error... smile.... generally a track o error is a DEAD HD.. but in that case.... it was just the jacks/plugs were dirty and the jacks needed to be replugged!!
