I'm trying to convert an avi to DVD with 2-pass VBR but TMPGenc is shutting down midway thru (in middle of night) for some reason. I suspect that it's a space issue...my HD is only 9 gig - does 2-pass first create a 4.5 gig file, then, using that, create a second 4.5gig final file?
    Thank you.
    Jackie.

I would expect it creates a temp file while doing the processing, then when it is finished, it would write the file to the output folder. So yes, that is most likely the case.

  3. TMPGEnc: Option -> Environmental Setting -> CPU -> Save analyzing result of multipass VBR to file.

If that is enabled (not all versions of TMPGEnc have it) the program will save the result of the first pass and use it during the second pass.
