hello, this is probably a silly question to ask (but I'm new to this) do I uncheck "remove layer break" in nero recode 2 (I have nero 7) when burning onto a DL disc? Thanks for your time.

I don't have an answer to your question. But from what I've read about DL so far, Nero is not recommended to burn DL. It has an issue with the layer break which usually leaves the 2nd layer unreadable.

thanks krispy kritter, I've read too that nero recode isn't the best for DL burning. The prob is, I have ts files on my hard drive and have tried other programs to convert them to an ISO and MDS file but in the process of burning (imgBurn) I'm informed that the image hasn't been structed correctly for DL burning.

I have been recommended PgcEdit to try and fix this problem but it looks too complicated for me lol. Thats why I want to give Nero a go but am unsure of the check/uncheck layer break in recode 2 options!

    thanks

Try it both ways with a RW disc. The problem with Nero seems to be that it creates its own layer break even if the source material already has one. It most likely won't matter which option you choose, as Nero will most likely screw it up anyway.

thanks for the advice once again Krispy Kritter - I'll do that in the near future. Still, I would have thought someone would have known whether you check or uncheck layer break regardless of nero's lack of DL burning capacities - thanyou.

  6. Leave it checked, this option only applies to transcoding not writing. As for writing DL use Sonic RecordNow Deluxe,DVDDecrypter or ImgBurn.
