  1. I have some home videos that I've recently converted from Vhs to DVD.

I wish to do some voice overs throughout them, so was wondering how I would go about doing this, or what software to use.

My plan is to rip the DVD's to the PC as high quality Avi files, them I have software that allows me to record sound from the microphone. All I need to know know, is how I go about getting the Mp3, Wav audio clips inserted into the various parts of the Avi video. Then once all done, I'll simply encode it to DVD again & burn.

    Thanks for any help received!

If you just want pieces of voice-over inserted it is probably best to re-edit the movie. Just about any NLE program (Windows Movie Maker, EditStudio, Vegas, etc) that supports multiple audio tracks will let you do it.

In theory, you could de-mux the audio and use a good audio editor to merge in your comments and then re-mux (or not, depending on your DVD creation software). But you won't be able to see the video while you work and getting the file right can be a bit tricky..

I just did something sort-of like this using N-Track.

Do you want to make your comments a permanent part of the movie or are you trying to make an optional "director's commentary" type of thing?
