I've got a bunch of older pre XP games that I'd like to archive to DVD as the original cd's are starting to get scratched. I plan on keeping those cd's no matter what condition they are in but I have a slight problem: I would like to still be able to install the games without burning a separate CD for each.
There were a few games that came out with multiple cd's per game and I'd like to put those on the same DVD and then put as many other ISO's from single disc games onto however DVD's it takes. Those older games would sometimes prompt you in the middle of gameplay to "Insert GAMENAME CD 2" and what I'd like to do is burn my ISO's to the DVD in such a way I can mount them to virtual drives from the DVD, play the game, unmount and store the DVD.
I read once somewhere that it was possible to do this but I've lost that bookmark in the last 6 months. So how would I go about doing this, what programs would I need and steps to take?
Win98SE--the XP toy is screwed up, typical for XP I know.
Oh and doing a search for "multiple ISO" returns a ton of pages, I looked through about four screenfuls of topics but didn't see anything close.
Thanks in advance.

As long as you are not trying to 'launch' the programs from the DVD, just burn as data on a DVD. You will likely have to 'mount' them to a virtual drive with a program like Daemon tools to play them. Some may refuse to play without a disc in the drive. There may be ways to get around that, but that depends on the game.
Either way, that should give you a good archival backup, even if you do have to burn them to individual disc to actually play them.
If you need to convert the CDs to ISOs, UltraISO or Folder2ISO are two programs to try. There are more in 'Tools' to the left. <<<<<<
And welcome to our forums.
And this is probably more suited to the Computer forum. Moving you. -
I prefer Alcohol 120% to make ISO's or MagicISO Maker to add extras to them. Wasn't sure where exactly was the best place for this, thanks for pointing that out and moving it.
So nothing that will let me archive multiple game ISO's to one DVD then launch them eh? I really don't want to burn copies of each to play. -

He said that as long as I wasn't planning to launch the games, then what he posted would work. Please read thoroughly next time--it's in the first line of his post.
And yes I'm well aware of what features Alcohol 120% offers as far as multiple virtual drives. -
If they were ISOs, you couldn't launch them directly from the DVD. You would have to use a program like Daemon Tools. If you put all the files from each game CD in separate folders on the DVD they probably wouldn't launch either, as they would tell you to 'insert CD'. But it would depend on the loader for each game.
But I'm assuming you just want archival storage. If you wanted them to play like the originals, then you would use the ISOs on the DVD to recreate the originals. -
Hmm, well I wish I could find that old bookmark I lost because I could have swore that it told how to make a DVD with different ISO's launchable. Guess I'll keep looking.
Thanks, lock at will.
*Daemon Tools sucks btw, it's crap compared to Alcohol 120%*
