  1. Hi all,

im using the cucusoft software for converting my avi files to a DVD file.
the problem is that sometimes, at some avi files, the software just stuck at the middle of the conversion.

ill give an example: i was trying to merge 5 avi files but it was always stuck at the same point. after removing the 1st file from the merging list, the conversion went fine, so i found out that this perticular file was the problem.
The thing is that this file is not that different than the other 4 files.
anyone knows this problem and can suggest any solution?
does anyone knows other Avi to DVD conversion softwares that are as good as the cucusoft? means it allows you to merge multiple files, choose the conversion quality i want, PAL/NTSC, screen ratio etc. ?

    any help is appriciated

    Thanks in advance

"Not that different" is a very subjective statement. Depending on how/where you got hold of your AVI's there's no telling how well created or error free/ridden it is. Every tool, will choke on source material with errors - admittedly some more than others.
If you're sure the problem AVI is error free, I suggest you contact cucusoft with your problem and let them see what's wrong - After all it's a commercial app, and they should be glad for any bug report to enable them to make their product better.
As for alternatives, look no further than under CONVERT left, select AVI to DVD.

  3. hi

    thanks for the reply.
when i said the files are not that different i meant its almost the same audio, same bitrates, same fps etc. but maybe the file has an error, but if it has an error its something i cant notice in my eyes. do u know any tool that can check those errors?

    thanks

    Scan for errors with VirtualDubMp3Freeze.
Errors are mosly noted when viewing and suddenly it "hiccups", possibly with audio sync problems after that point. But generally, AVI players are made to glace over bad spots and just skips the frame(s) that it can't decode. An encoder needs each and every frame to be readable and decodable.
Sometimes updating the used codec (Xvid? DivX?) to the latest version/other build of latest version helps too.

No codec pack is good. Use g-spot/avicodec/mediainfo/avi2clipboard to determine what codec you need, and install just that codec. Codec packs lead to misery, instability and system rebuilds more often than not.
