Please help, I used to use TMPGEnc with the Quicktime plugin to convert my movs off my digital camera to mpeg1 so i can make vcds of them and if used to work fine. But recently my TMPGEnc freezes at 100% while converting mov to mpeg1, it also does the same thing when converting with MOV to AVI MPEG WMV Converter??? The only way to get out is to cancel operation. The strange thing is the converted mpeg is done and plays but it has no sound??? I've even tried re-formatting my HD and re-installed a new Quicktime and both programs but the same happens???? Please help P.S. I've just installed CUCUSOFT Video Covertor and it warns that I am missing an audio codec??? I've just d/l and installed Codecs6030_allin1.exe & XP-CodecPack-1.3.3.zip, still not working????

OK. First up - never install codec packs. They often contain conflicting tools, poor configurations and don't uninstall cleanly. 9 times out of 10 they create way more problems than they can fix.
If you are told by a piece of software that you are missing a codec, don't randomly install codecs in the hope of accidentally installing the right one. Use g-spot or avicodec or mediainfo or avi2clipboard to determine what codec is actually required. Then you can install just that codec, and move on with your life. Install a codec pack instead, and you could spend from now until your next reformat trying to work out what is wrong.Read my blog here.
