I've been using TMPGEnc DVD Author for a while now, but I wanted to do a DVD with dual audio on one file (audio commentary), so I got DVDAuthorGUI. I got all my files in elementary streams, got everything set up in DVDAuthor and I pressed AUTHOR. The program then goes through the motions of making the DVD, it creates the audio and video folders where I told it to, but the video folder is empty! There's nothing there when it finishes!

Does anyone know what is going on, or why it is doing this? Am I missing something that doesn't come with the GUIexe? Any help would be appreciated. I've already spent so much time on this. I'd just like it to work!!

    Thanks

What does your log show? My guess is that there was a problem in the muxing that canceled the entire process.

You have too many colors in the menu. If you are using bmp style buttons, make sure your color depth is 4 bit. also remember that you have 16 colors total (including both the highlight and select images).

Paint Shop Pro verifies that the bmps I used are 4 bits per pixel. I had one on the first menu and one on the second menu, identical (one was just a mirror of the other) and then I had one color selected for highlight and select, the same color for each page. Should I just try taking out the bmp button and just incorporate it into the menu pic? Will that solve my problem?

Thats just it, if your select image has a different pallet from the highlight image by even 2 colors, than you are over your 16 color limit. Above, I said 4 bit. Actually, I meant to say 2 bit (or 4 colors). That way, you are guaranteed a little bit of freedom in creating your buttons.

If you have something of detail that needs to be in the menu, put it in the actual mpeg stream, instead of using the buttons.

That was my problem. As soon as I moved the bmp buttons onto the menu, and then ran it again, it worked just fine. Thanks for all the help!
