Pinnacle PCTV Pro capture problems

I have a Pinnacle PCTV Pro tv tuner card installed in my pc for many years. I have captured many clips using it. My pc is able to capture upto dvd resolution (720x576).

About a month ago I formatted my hdd and reinstalled everything. If I install PCTV v5.5 then all capture modes viz. vcd, dvd, divx, mpeg1, 2 etc are all available. But if I install the PCTV v5.75 update then only mpeg1 capture mode is available. All other capture formats are greyed out. I have been using the v5.75 update ever since I downloaded it from Pinnacle's website. Now suddenly there is this problem.

DVD, divx codecs are installed because I can playback these videos without trouble. What can I do to solve this? I dont want to use PVTC 5.5 because its interface is slow.

I tried the above method, it didn't work. Just uninstalled the newer version and reinstalled the older version. Guess what? I can capture tv programs in dvd resolution! But I will be damned if I can get the newer version to capture anything above mpeg1 resolution. And to think that I have been using this for almost 4-5 years. I am at my wits end about this!
