I need to take several DVDs and rip just portions of them to compile onto one DVD. I've read through the forums, and saw some options, but I was concerned with lack of quality. I've looked at the program FlaskMpeg, but there seems to be quality loss. What's the best way to take out a couple scenes from a dvd and what is the best format to save it to without losing quality?
Thanks!

Use DVD decrypter to rip just the chapters that contain the scenes you need - no quality loss
Edit these down with an mpeg editor that doesn't encode, or only encodes a few frames around the cut - no quality loss (or so little you won't see it)
Assemble the pieces in TDA as a single track for smooth play through - no quality lossRead my blog here.

Doesn't DVD Decrypter only rip to a Vob file? TDA can do the editing as far as trimming what I don't need?

TDA doesn't change anything to mpg - it takes mpg or VOB as source, then spits out Video DVD files including (but not limited to) VOBs. As TDA can't encode, no quality loss is involved.
