  1. I've burned quite a few DVDs (DVD+R) the last couple years with pretty good success. I have some motocross video files I wanted to share with my friend. I used DVD+RW's this time so I could burn a few, let him watch them, get the discs back and burn the next few, then the next few.

The first 3 discs burned real good. When I got them back, I burned the next 3 on the discs. I can't get them to work like the first time. They freeze and skip around a lot in my Home theater DVD Player (very nice player that's DVD+RW compliant).

I was wondering if DVD+RW's don't work very good after the first time. Any ideas why 3 RW discs would record good and then, with everything the same, not work?

    Thank you,
    Chris.

  2. Any phase change (RW) media has limits to its shelf life. Exposure to heat, light, finger-prints and/or scratches will create casualities quickly as well. With proper handling I usually get close to 6 months use but this obviously depends on how they are used and how often.

    edited for spelling.

  3. The problems tend to show up with DVD-video. Especially, if the DVD+R/W is burned by two different burners with different laser strength ( The two shades of gray ). I used DVD+R/W, to transfer VHS video with DVD recorder, and get about 2 to 8 cycles per disc.

So far, those video I kept on DVD+R/W, never have problem likes DVD-R. I wonder why ?

A local Officemax store advised me that they were getting returns on one brand of DVD+R/W which would not burn reliably at its highest speed after being erased.
