    Hello All,

i have searched the forum and havent seen 1 topic on this so i thought id post here as im a newbie if this is in the wrong section im sorry and feel free to move it.

Ok ive been using WinAVIVideoConverter to convert my Vcd's/Xvids to DVD but i want to Batch convert as in i have 4 differnt movies i want to convert them seperate so 1 movie is burnt onto 1 DVD-r instead of all 4 on 1 dvdr so i batched them and all 4 are 2CDS each so i made 4 diff directorys and made each 1 put the vobs etc in a differnt dir but when i come to burn it to dvd-r with Nero theres 2 directorys in the each of the folders all are "dvd_0" & "dvd_1" which is weird as when i convert just 1 all the files go into a folder called "dvd_0" which burns and plays fine but when i batch it converts and plays on the computer but when i burn with nero and play one in my dvd player and computer its missing the last scene(s)?

ive really no idea why this is can anyone at all give me a hand?

if theres any info you need please do ask

i appreciate you reading all of this and any help given

    Many Thanks,

There's not that many fans of WinAVI here. If you want them on separate DVDs, I don't know that I would want to batch convert them, unless just to DVD compliant video and audio. Then you can author them any way you want.

I use ConvertXToDVD for quick conversions. If I want quality and control, I use a standalone encoder and authoring program.

    But, Welcome to our forums.

Frankly, I wouldn't touch WinAVI with a barge pole, but my reading of that post is that you should already have the software, installed as part of the WinAVI install.

    Open a command prompt (Start->Run->cmd->OK)
CD to your WinAVI folder (cd c:\program files\winavi\ ) <- change this to whereever you installed winavi.
Now type winavicmd and see what happens. If you get an error, or nothing happens, try winavicmd ? to get the help for the commands.

Once you know what you need to type to convert one file, create a text file called winavi.bat - you can use notepad to do this. Set up all your conversions, one after the other, in the same file. Save it, then double click to execute it. Your conversions should run in order until complete.

It gives you no real control over the details, whether or not it produces anything of value seems to be random, and company uses spam tactics and other underhanded methods to promote it as being the greatest thing since sliced bread, yet do not answer legitimate support calls.

I have ConvertXtoDVD in my arsenal for those moments when I need a quick conversion. It is clean, does what it needs to do, has never failed me, and it's developers, when they did visit here, did so for legitimate beta testing and feedback, not to spam an inferior product.

I can reply on a personal note that doesn't necessarily include our site. WinAVI or their minions haved spammed our site for more than a year. That is one reason. The other is that what WinAVI offers for pay is free with the older version of DivxToDVD or the newer payware, ConvertXToDVD, which works much better without problems most of the time. We have a lot of posts about WinAVI problems. Not that many of us use it.

You can try the program if you like, but there are other programs that will do the same thing, with less problems, IMO.

Ain't WinAVI wonderful. Try their support line - that's what you paid for after all.

Most simple converters don't have batch facilities because the people who use them usually don't need them. Those that do need batch facilities are usually those who use tools better suited to the task. This is not meant as an insult to anyone, just the basics of their target demographic.

yeah, same happened to me, their support is useless

as far I understood you must assign a double "-"(minus) sign to select the the type of encoding

    --8 or --9.......etc.

The version7.5Beta have fix that issue. You can upgrade to have a try.
And by the way, in my opinion,if we have problem with conversion,we'd better email to winavi.
After all,the Program is designed by them.Sometimes,it's difficult to get answers on message boards. The problem maybe according to the original files and our pc or our operation. It's so complicated, can't be clear in a few words.

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning. Yet another WinAVI spammer... Wonder if they realise that they're doing more harm than good to their business?

I hope the OP (and anyone else thinking of supporting WinAVI) reads this thread and sees just how disgraceful the company really is.

The irony is that the spammers spam the support email address, yet there's many here that claim they can't get a response from it !

At least they could actually provide some sort of support instead of just token measures. Either that or spend less time spamming and more time actually improving their software.
    If in doubt, Google it.
