I am new to the dvd burning on computers, i have a panasonic dvd recorder, but now I want to put them onto my computer to edit them and make a cool menu (with a picture of the tv show) but I need help to know what steps AND THE TERMS for doing just that, that is why I came here, you all are great with the information and teaching other people how to do awesome stuff, so please be nice and just give me all the basics including the terms so I will know what I am doing along the way, like what the files are called.

I have windows movie maker for editing so what format do I have to have the episode in to be able to see it in the movie maker?

I have the DIKO menu creator free download, so any help on that is great.

I am very computer smart so I learn very fast, usually just one explanation and I get it, I have an ipod so i understand about mp3's so I'm not dumb, just want to learn about dvd authoring now.

I don't have alot of time to search so please answer my questions in my thread, i really want to learn ASAP.

thank you all so much, you guys are awesome!!!!!

Probably the easiest and "best" program is TMPGEnc DVD Author.

It will let you import your episodes ... do some simple trim editing like cutting out commercials or trimming the start and end of your recordings ... and then author it to a DVD with your own menu ... all with one software.

The program pretty much does all you need. The program works well and is very stable.

The only complaint that some people have is that the menu design choices are limited but for how well and easily it works ... it is hard to beat.

Those two links should give you a very good education on the ins and outs of digital video. (found on the left of the screen <----)

    thank you for the links.

that was a little to technical for me, I just want the basics like, I just want to know when you put an episode (that was burned off tv) onto a computer what is that format called, i use the program VOB2MPG and DVD Shrink.

How do I get my episode from my windows movie maker ready to put onto disc, when I go to my disc copier it won't see my episode so that must mean it's not in the right format.

I just need the basics, right now I can use free programs, so you can tell me other free programs to use to do what I need to do.

also, what is the format when it shows a green circle with a play button in the middle of it, what is that format for?

I want to you the DIKO program for the menu.

  11. I would like to give you the basics, but I never ever used (and will never use) windows movie maker. So my "basics" are different from yours.

You likely won't get an answer as WMM and diko are not the tools to accomplish the task of going from recorded DVD disk to a new re-authored DVD. More options here: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=264469

DIKO is a tool to make DVD's from AVI files and other sources.

It does have DVDStyler and other tools to make menus. However, I've never gotten that thing to work, but I HAVE gotten AVI2DVD to work, so I can't vouch for DIKO.

And besides, what you need is a bit beyond what DIKO offers.

I finally figured out how to use DVD lab but i only have one question

when you are playing your new movie with the new menu on your tv and you navigate through the titles, you know the highlighted color that goes over the title that shows you what title you are on, Is there a way to change that color from pink? If so, the please tell me how.
