  1. I have encountered a problem with making snapshots from DVD.
I used a PAL DVD, window is full screen, settings are snapshot to file, and I have tried all possible size settings (video source size, window size and enter size) but the result is always the same: left and right of the image is a black rim.
They can not be seen when the DVD is playing in PowerDVD.

I couldn't figure out why this happened, maybe it is a DVD problem (not in the meaning that they are damaged but a question of .. formats, layers etc.). Google and search in this forum didn't bring up anything.
Fuznny is that even with the print key which as I understand it makes a copy of everything visible on screen and only that, there are these black rims (which are not visible in playing or pause mode)

    Any ideas?

Use VirtualDub MPEG2 of VirtualDubMod for screen shots. PowerDVD, when it works, is blurry and dark.

  3. Thanks.
I use virtualdub for single images, found the image quality usually worse than powerdvd but that probably depends on your settings.
I had a look at virtualdubmod but as I thought it is of no use for my project. The only way to capture is to clipboard and I need to make lots of snapshots. Copying to file is the best and actually only way to handle it.
I remember that BSPlayer is quite good usually and will check but I would still love an answer to my question (powerdvd) if there is one.
