Hi. Im having a problem that im not sure if is in the conversion or in the authoring.
Im using Tmpgenc Xpress to convert Avi files to MPEG2, and then Im using DVD Lab Pro to make the DVD. The problem is that sometimes the DVD that I make doesnt accept changes in the options of "Pan Scan", "Leterbox" and "16:9" on the DVD. I mean, when I change this options on the DVD Player(not the computer), absolutely nothing happens. When that happens, the video is also cut on all sides... When the DVD is working fine, those options work, and the video doesnt get cut.
Anyone know what could I be doing wrong? I believe I did exactly the same procedure in both cases, so I have no idea why some projects work and some dont.
Thanks in advance for replies.

Im losing half the subtitles... Yes, its fan-sub anime...

I just dont understant why I get the problem sometimes and sometimes I dont.

About overscan, I know several ways how to compensate that. But the cut area is diferent for each tv, so I would prefer to figure out how to fix that problem. There must be an option that blocks the DVD player from changing the aspect ratio, but where is it?

It has nothing to to do with aspect ratio. The simplest way is to add a 16 pixel border all the way around. If it is 16:9, you will only lose the ends of you don't, but as most of it is 4:3, you have a problem.

You could encode everything at 16:9, which would pillarbox your 4:3 material and give you a nice safe border. But if you watch it on a 16:9 TV you will still have the same problem.

Borders are your only reasonable option.Read my blog here.

Have the fansub producer reconvert the video with the subtitles in the proper location.Originally Posted by jorgebonafe
